Hello,
We had some material out on loan to another company. They returned the material, so now we need to receive it back into stock. Since this was just a temporary loan we never created a PO initially, so now we need to process a GR without a PO. We tried MIGO and movement type 501 but it does not seem to work. Unless there is another way to receive something back into stock without a PO and without using MIGO? Are there any suggestions anyone may have?

Although movement type 561 can technically bring stock back, it should be avoided because it is intended only for initial stock uploads. For operational scenarios like loaned material returns, please use movement type 501 (GR without PO) in MIGO/MB1C. It is not clear what the issue is when you tried 501 movement type. Please share screen shot of the issue. If the material is linked to project stock, movement type 521 is the appropriate alternative.

Hi,
Yes, you can receive loaned material back into stock without a PO. The most common approaches are using movement type 561 (initial stock upload) or movement type 521 (GR without PO for project stock) instead of 501. These are processed in transaction MB1C or directly in MIGO with the correct movement type.
