PLMSI re-use Product in Structure from other source (MM01 for example)

Hi Experts,

   we are starting to investigate PLMSI, in our landscape the Material Masters (Products) are created via a non-PLMSI process, meaning we have no "product key" that conforms to the PLMSI way of working (we have no version attribute)

We want to use these Products within Structures (BOMs) that PLMSI will generate.

Is it possible to bypass the need for the version attribute in the product key (maybe via some custom integration pattern) or pass a dummy value?

Example is we use ProductVersionReadRequest to query an existing material in the SAP system, we have no version for the product key therefore we either return;

"No valid key mapping for product version with ID x type y version z" (when passing a random value for version)

or

"Domain Model attribute version must be provided" (when we omit the version from the request)
