Hello Gurus,

it is possible to generate a Picture (jqp) in WWI print out which is link to a specification via freetext with Document Info Record (DIR) ? In specification workbench itself, the Picture opened automatically by doubleclick on free text and document link.

Thanks

Hi,

it seems that there is a diffrence between German and English SAP Help regarding chapter

"User-Defined Texts and Documents"

Compare this:

Dear Holger

check this "german" link: https://help.sap.com/viewer/53553f68dd5c40fca37821641f36f51a/6.00.31/de-DE/4834c55398dd1f4be10000000...

The "german" and the "english" story should be the same. Any how:

If you would like to print "text": Read this carefully(Extract from english SAP help):

"When the text is printed out on a report, all formatting (character formats, paragraph formats, and so on) is retained. The prerequisite for this is that the environment parameter LONGTEXT_FORMAT_SUPPORT must be set in Customizing for Basic Data and Tools under Specify Environment Parameters.

If your text is longer than 132 characters or you have formatted it, the user-defined text field is not ready for input. You can then only edit the text using the text editor."

Regarding the "editors". In the last years i have seen from time to time "issues" there (check blog "WWI for experts"

We are using intensively the option to "embed" pictures (or similar stuff) in WWI documents using user defined text so I know. It is working fine

Hello Christoph,

thanks so far. I have already assigend a document (with included a Picture) via User Text type. Ist works pretty well.

But for the WWI output I can't find a suitable WWI Symbol for outputting the Picture itself and not the documentnumber (doknr) or doctype...

Hi Christoph,

yes, thanks that's awesome and exactly what I was looking for. I just read the SAP Help for WWI up and down and don't check the EHS-BD-SPE...

Thanks and best regards

Hello Holger

regarding "I just read the SAP Help for WWI up and down and don't check the EHS-BD-SPE..."

1.) the online help of SAP provide"only" an overview of how WWI can be used; discussion in this FORUM has shown that this help is a starting point but not more; especially if you look on the many threads here discussing e.g. company specific report symbols, using "if/else" structures; Conditions in "if" statement, and many other stuff (e.g. generally the challenge to have an up and running WWI server park

The online help on the top does not support e.g. WWI documents in SAP EHS IH. This is a different story; as well you will find limitations in online help for the use in "GLM" (label like WWI reports).

2.) what does "Don't check EHS_BD-SPE" means? The online help is for EHS-BD (and all the other EHS modules) only a starting point. Even if you have understood (may be) the customizing structure of EHS: to use EHS might not be easy; according to my experience: anything starts with a very ! good blueprint before ! you set up EHS.

E.g. if you check only the topic of "material set up" (and the so called "flag" for EHS relevance on material side): This is as well not always understood

WWI documents are the starting point. If you then are ini the situation to think about "report shipment". Take more time... If you define that WWI is "eays" then "report shipment" (and the story regariding it and how to set up, configure etc.) can be a "nightmare" and you might stuck

If you need more details:

Read the existing blogs. We have two blogs for WWI, one for EHS Beginners and one for Report distribution

Good luck for your implementation

Dear Holger

depending on your SAP release it is possible to "link" a DMS document to the user defined text. To do so some customiuing is needed. Check the "User Text type" definition part; There is a "flag" to enable that you can generate a link to a "DMS" like document.

Depending on the customizing you can do the "link" e.g. in any property for the specified user defined text or in one only.

With the correct SAP release you can upload the picture "direct" from your client (it is then moved automatically to DMS) and store the link in the user Defined Text

But if you have done proper Customizing set up then you will get a "F4" help in the user defined text. Using this F4 Help you can check "DMS" to find the "right" document to be stored as a link.

There are some SAP standard WWI symbols available for "user defined text". Here you need "only" to select the right one and then you will get the "picture" (or what aver kind of document) in your WWI document

Keep in mind this, "User Defined Text" data records are potentially "language" dependant; If you would like to show up the picture in any WWI document it should be clear that you must generate an user defined text data record without assigned language (and you have to use corresponding WWI symbols)

Hello

this is what I understand what you would like to get:

1.) you would like to create a "reference" to a DMS document in the User Defined Text (e.g. to a "jpg" file)

2.) and you would like to print this picture (document) using WWI options

If this is your scenario answer is: yes using WWI options you can do so; anything can be inserted in WinWord/WWI which is supported either by "OLE" mechanism or WinWord as such; only the correct SAP Set up to do so is a little bit tricky (DMS set up + WWI use of symbols)

Hello,

yes, this is absolutly what I would like to implement but the question is more about that "tricky" things....
