PFCG Roles - Menu - web address or File Protocol for showing files on internal servers

Hello All,

We recently moved to using Chrome/Edge browser for SAP PPM on S4HANA. (earlier we were using IE)

We have roles with menu, the menu had URLs/File protocol - we were opening files (doc, ppt. pdf) from these role menu

Following was set in Web address or file (doc or ppt or xls)

file://server.com\path1\path2\path3\xxxx.doc

However after moving to Chrome/Edge, we find that these links are not opening anymore. Is there a way we can still continue to show the links and have these links open?

What is your gui version? You may need to update your SAPGui to the latest version for full alternative browser (Edge) support.

I installed gui version 7.7 on my laptop however the issue still persists. Word and ppt and xls documents don't open in web html netweaver.

I have 7.7 and 7.6 both on my laptop. What else can i try?

I installed release 770 on my laptop, yet the issue exists. The files are not opening from menu. What else should i try?

Are you using the S/4HANA Fiori interface or still using the SAP GUI?

Also, what error are you getting?

We are using SAP NetWeaver Business Client in HTML.

We dont get any error however when we click on link (to a word doc/ppt, which we set thru menu in pfcg role), the cursor keeps moving, the actual document does not show within browser. If we provide the same URL in browser new tab, the document is shown in that standalone browser window. The URLs with HTTPS - these documents can be downloaded as soon as we click on them. So it seems that we need to get a https url for each file and then have user download these each time. We would prefer for user to actually see the document/pdf contents in browser itself for some of these links.
