Hello Gurus,
We raise a purchase order for a film material for total qty (e.g.1,00,000 m). The supplier delivers them in number of rolls (8-10). During inbound delivery (VL31N) we split the order in the number of rolls delivered. Batch number and inspection lot for each rolls are created simultaneously. We would like to retain the batch number for each of the rolIs, however, we would like to have just one inspection lot for all the rolls that are delivered on that purchase order.
Is it possible to have just one inspection lot for all the batches using SAP standard funtionality and how? If not, then is the any other way we can have this feature?
Many thanks in advance for your replies.
Regards,
Nik

Hello Nikhil,
One Inspection lot with multiple batch is not possible in standard. But, the other way around (one batch multiple inspection lot) is possible in standard.
For your specific business scenario with standard functionality, you can have inspection point per GR of unit that you receive and can manage this without any development. Here, you cannot have multiple batches for one inspection lot.
But, if you want to have multiple batch and one IL then you may use the same inspection point feature with a manual inspection lot (89-origin). Here, you need to create inspection point for each GR in that inspection lot. You may also, need to develop something at inspection point valuation incase you want to transfer the result to batch and update the batch status (restricted to unrestricted) in case you want inventory control. In this way, you end up in following development
1. Development at GR to create inspection point in an inspection lot (against a PO - with dummy header batch number)
2. Development at Inspection point valuation to manage batch status as well as copying results from Inspection point to the item batch.

Dipesh
