NWDI Local SLD vs. External SLD

I am planning to install the NWDI on our netweaver and the option to setup a local SLD server or select an existing SLD appears. We do not know if we need to connect to the existing SLD and I am wondering if it will be easy or possible to switch from local server to existing server in the future.

Hi Chip,

You may be better off posting that question on a NetWeaver forum. That is getting quite a bit beyond MII.

do a local one if it's just a test. The MII install doc guides you through the process

That's what I figured, buddy. I am having internal issues with R/3. Something about the version of NW (?) being an older than the version on the MII box. Good thing we found this now bc there is a question about the ABAP security they implemented as well.

Just got done configuring 4 12.1 MII environments. Installed a local SLD on the first server, then remote on the remaining servers pointing to the first..

Anyway, the way the wizards are configured, you could conceivably re-execute in the future to change the setup.
