No mandatory field asterisk on Report Incident for location

Hello,

we have configured location to be a mandatory using EHS field control but using the app 'Report Incident', The red asterisk isnt visible to highlight that the field is mandatory.

No asterisk for the location field

Error message if location is left blank

If we then look at the manage incidents app, the asterisk is there for the field

Looking at the deprecated report incidents app - Report Incident - Detailed Recording & Report Incident - Basic Recording, the asterisk is there for location

Does anyone else have this issue or know how we could look to resolve this?

Thanks,

Gerard

Hi Gerald,

Unfortunately, Field Control doesn't push the red asterisk or enforce the mandatory field requirement to the Fiori app. Field Control enforces behaviors on the database and the front-end Floorplan Manager (Web Dynpro) based apps like Report Incident - Basic Recording, Report Incident -Detailed Recording, Manage Incidents, etc. Because Field Control enforces behavior on the database, An incident can be reported from the Fiori app with the missing mandatory data but once you try to submit the report, you will get an error back from the database. The SAP Fiori Apps Reference Library will tell you which apps are Fiori and which are Web Dynpro. I'm not sure what version you are on but to enforce the mandatory field requirement on the Fiori app UI. I'm quite sure you need to do an enhancement/extension to the Fiori app itself or maybe there is a parameter or attribute on the CDS view for the app that can be utilized.

Hi Scott,

thanks for commenting and answering the question. The issue is now with SAP marking the Web Dynpro apps (report incident basic & detailed) as deprecated and replaced with a UI5 app, field control now becomes less effective by displaying a database error which is a lot less user friendly and without the red asterisk. Maybe this will be addressed in the future. Appreciate the help though
