New EHS functionality

Hi Gurus,

Can anyone give some idea on the 2 new functionality as defined in the ERP soulution browser.

1. Enhanced Whirlwind I (WWI), a modified version of Microsoft Word that is called from the SAP software to edit a document

template, is provided for more flexible document creation and generation.

Because of the integrated architecture of the basic data and tools of SAP Environment, Health & Safety (SAP EH&S), consistency of the data exchanged between all the SAP softwareu2013enabled business processes is ensured automatically. Redundant data maintenance, therefore, is not necessary. Up-to-date data and documents are always available when needed. SAP EH&S basic data and tools can be implemented by every organization that handles chemical or nonchemical substances in any form, whether it is in manufacturing, processing, storage, transportation, or end applications.

2. This functionality enables you to accomplish the following tasks: - Release of packaged products during the product definition process - Extended dangerous goods checks for packaging and product release in sales, shipping, and transportation processes

The dangerous good management functionality in SAP Environment, Health & Safety (SAP EH&S) supports all processes connected with the manufacturing and distribution of dangerous goods and also ensures compliance with the valid national and international legislation.

To comply with the different packaging regulations worldwide, it is necessary to record the essential packaging information in the corresponding SAP EH&S master data and to use this information within the dangerous goods checks in transactions in different SAP software.

With SAP EH&S dangerous goods management, it is possible to record relevant legal packaging information in the specification management and the dangerous goods master, which mainly allows combinations of packaging codes, and the management of packing instructions and special packaging provisions.

Hello

with ECC 6.0 Enhancement Package 3 major changes (major increase in functionality) the area EH&S are released by SAP. Please refer to this document:

https://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/ESpackages/SAPERP6.0. You will find more documentation regarding Enhancement Packages.

As it is not clear which enhancement package you are using (Enhancement package 3, 4 or potentially 5) I can give you only a rough idea about this change:

a.) To create e.g. a document like an MSDS with EH&S you need the WWI (Windows Word Integration). To do so you need normally installation on a WWI server and on the windows client on which the sap gui is running (local installation). With Enhancement Package 3 you can change this set up a little bit. There is no need to distribute the WWI any more locally but you must prepare more WWI servers. In the e.g. "Report from template" process the new approach is shown so that the user can see the content of the MSDS or other WWI related documents. The same is true to my knowledge if the user would like to see the content of a realease WWI report.

To my knowledge this an optional change in setup of EH&S.

b.) with EnhPack 3 (and with 5 which will be available may be 2010 and to my knwoledge is now in ramp up phase) major changes happened in the area of the DG submodul of EH&S. You can control now more specifc the dangeorus goods declaration etc.. PLease refer too to SAP documentation: take a look here: http://help.sap.com/erp2005_ehp_04/helpdata/en/a5/3adda043be11d188fe0000e8322f96/frameset.htm

Pay attention: If you activate an enhancement package => there is no way back!!! Refer to SAP documentation

(according to recent informations from SAP side: they are planning to make the activation "reversible" (may be still available don't know) with some Enhancement Package of SAP Netweaver.

Any higher Enhancement Package contains always ! any changes delivered with a previous Enhancement Package (enhancement package 4 contains therefore any change in 123). Enhancement Packaeg 4 does not contain EH&S extensions. Only with Enhancement Package 5 new functionality is delivered.

With best regards

C.B.

PS: There is a general OSS note available regarding the topic of Enhancement Packages.

This is OSS Note: 1064635. Here you will find general informations regarding availability of the Enhancement Packages as well as the changes etc. Pay attention. With Enh. PAck 5 SAP did some "basic" changes in the setup. Therefore read carefully a further document available at SAP marketplace which is called:

Master Guide

SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0

This document is useful to get a rough "technical" overview about what is going on

PPS: Refer to this link too:

http://blog.extendtechnologies.com.au/sap-ehs-environment-health-and-safety-and-ehp5-sap-enhancement...

As an add on: to my knowledge now Enhc. PAck 5 should be in Ramp up phase (since mid of june 2010). In contrast to what has been explained in different threads the docu of changes between 4 and 5 is not available at help.sap.com yet but there is something on SAP marketplace to be downloaded.

Small correction here. Enh. PAck 5 will go into Ramp up December 2010.
