Hello All,

I am trying to create New Rule in MSDS maker and I am able to generate to .MDB file but not able to generate .RUL file, which is needed at EHS expert server, Not sure what i am doing wrong ?

After installation of MSDS Maker

Step 1 -  Run Rule Editor created .mdb data base from SAP System

Step 2 - Imported above .mdb file in MSDS maker

Step 3 - Create rule from MSDSMAKER_example.mdb file - Rule # 7

Step 4 - MSDSMAKER_example.mdb updated in desired location

but no .Rul/.Ruc file ?

when i transfer to expert server and mapping data base is missing .RUL or RUC file

any help is appreciated .

Hello Gopi,

When creating MSDS Maker rules all you do is writing / changing entries into the MDBs. In ohter words: In the MDB your rule logic is stored. You never change the actual RUC files.

The ruc file is part of the MSDS Maker installation files and needs to get put on the Expert Server where all the other ruc files are.

In fact it are two files:

  • MSDSRule_sub_Vn-n.ruc
  • MSDSRule_Vn-n.ruc

Just follow the installation instructions closely.

Hope this helps

Hello Mark,

Thank You very much. OCC/SERC provides both .mdb/rul file as part of installation package.which i can use on expert server if i am not writing new rules.

My issue is when i am creating a new rule and if i am using MSDSMAKER_Example.mdb file to write the rule (As this is blank .mdb file and SAP provided to write your own rules) I dont see any .RUC/RUL file in MSDS Installation folder or neither MSDS maker is generating it.

and if use the current RUC file from OCC Package than this would not work.

Any help is appreciated.

Hello Gopi,

The MSDS Maker installation comes with the RUC files.  (Please note that the MSDS Maker is no longer supported and has been replaced by CoSSta - please read the thread ).

Ensure you have your Custom Rule Set configured correctly in the Expert Admin (a new entry - point to you example mdb and the delivered ruc files) on the Expert Server (Windows) and have the user exit for your customer rule set up correctly as well on the SAP side.

You can take the entries from SAP ERC as example / copy template .

Hope this helps

Hello Mark,

Thank you so much for your help, There was lot of loose end before MSDS Maker could work for me. I guess process has changed since i last used the MSDS maker. IOur MSDS Maker Installation folder did not have .ruc file (at least not found in Program (X86) folder), when i used MSDSMKAER_V4-11.mdb file to modify rules- MSDS maker got corrupted, not sure why ? I used one of example file to write the rule but could not read at Server even i had correct setting  CGSADM, Corrected by pointing to correct data base in .mdb file.

Thank You,

Gopi

Hello Gopi,

If it works now for you please close the thread.

MSDS Maker is not easy - I'm looking forward to the new CoSSta and the all overall update process with the new solution.

Kind Reagards

Dear Gopi

there are many threads now on MSDS maker with lot of "uncertainties" and it is clear that a kind of "misinterpretation" might be out there.

PLease check e.g. SCN by just using MSDS maker as search term. You will find roughly 10 threads of many kind
