When we log into MII, the URL has the server name, port and then it places its own "?Service=Personalization" once we log in. Is there a way to modify this URL? Is there somewhere in Netweaver where we can make adjustments or add to the url?

If your initial URL is a particular page the server should send you to the login page and then redirect to it upon login (try an IRPT page and observe the URL patterns). If you use http://server:port/XMII then it will default you to the Personalization service (like a website index/default page will do).

we need to slightly modify where it defaults us to
I believe there is something in the Netweaver that can allow us to do this so I have been poking around and I am not sure this is it, but I am wondering if you can guide me?
I am in the NWA looking at the configuration management and I clicked on infrastructure. I then clicked on Application Modules and here some things are standing out. Looking at the Web Modules and its details, t appears there are xml documents associated to different aspects of the web browsing. Welcomes pages, error pages, content and cookies to name a few. Is it here that I can add or modify to the existing login? I guess I need more information on how to do this.
Have you looked at making a Theme under Navigation Services --> Navigation.

Maybe you can make a custom header and use javascript to do redirect?
