Hello
According to help documentation, UDS 4.0 contains data providers for Excel, Access, OsiSoft Pi, AspenTech, ProficyHistorian.
But when we try to create new OsiSoft PI UDS Instance, we can't find PI data provider in the Provider tab (As however and for ProficyHistorian).
Maybe are there some missed pre-requisite steps in the help documentation (like installation PI SDK) or it's another issue?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks.
Does it mean that we can install UDS OLE DB only at the same machine with the source DB?
Because as i know, we can install UDS OPC at another machine and have access via the LAN.

Hi,
It is not compulsory to have UDS in the same machine where your data provider is available.
You have to build a connection string using DSN craeted in other PC.
Creat a DSN using the historian driver available in remote PC.Acces this DSN from the PC where UDS is installed. Then test the connection.
Hope this helps you.

Hi Mikhail:
Just to be clear, the UDS 4.0 supports Excel, Access, OsiSoft Pi, AspenTech IP21, and ProficyHistorian through OLE DB only.
Assuming you are licensed to use the PI OLE DB interface, you will need to install the PI OLEDB components on your UDS server. The PI OLEDB components are available from OSISoft.
The UDS server does not need to be on the same server as PI, remote access is possible. You will just need to install the PI OLEDB components on the UDS server.
Support for IP21 and Proficy through OLEDB is the same.
If you want native tag query support, there is also a UDS 2.5 version for PI and Proficy.
Best Regards
Chris

Hi,
You have to instal the UDS where the OsiSoft PI historian installed. Then you can see the OLEDB data provider for PI in DataLink Properties window.
For ex: I can see iHistorain OLEDB provider in the PC where have installed the iHistorian, but I can't see the same in the machine where iHistorian is not installed.
