Actually we are running MII as a set of background task, which are used for integrating some machines (push orders and poll data) and advisiing palletts to SAP EWM. The underlying data structure is implemented within a separate tablespace of the Oracle database of the Netweaver/MII system. The structure itself has been developed since 10 years and could very easily coupled to the new MII systems.
The user interface for this (smart MES) database has been developed as a Delphi application, which is still applicable today. For further and much more better integration of the shop floor we want to redesign the traditional delphi interface as a web interface fully integrated into the MII web portal. Therefore we are looking for the right tool to do this job. Pure HTML could not be a real solution, because it is too extensive, complex and time-consuming. Using some toolkits like DOJO only seem to simplify some special routines. Actually we are trying Adobe Flex, which might be the right way, because we find there most of the components we know from Delphi. A collegue suggested to apply SAP Netweaver Developer Studio, which seemed to me much more complicated.
Can anyone give me some tips or hints on what we should do?

Bodo,
From my experiences of seeing customer and partner MII apps, I can tell you that they rely on Frontpage / Dreamweaver (or other WYSIWYG) for GUI development. Some have explored Flex as well as Xcelsius in their apps but the majority have been with IRPT (MII's own dynamic web pages), CSS files, and JS libraries.
Hope it helps,
Kevin
