Loading phrases into SAP

Hi Expert,

Just got into this forum.i have a question,how to load phrases from legacy data into SAP, i'm having data in Excel format, i want mapping sheets for these how can i create and what all information do i need to capture on this mapping sheet, please help me in this task.

Hi Mark

You have to take help of technical team. You can make the LSMW with the help of ABAP Consultant and then you can upload your phrases from Excel sheet to SAP.

Hope it will solve your problem.

Hi Mark,

Both process i.e LSMW and import process are used for data loads,

1) You can prepare your data load sheet as text file which is the format for LSMW's or you can also use Excel sheet for this task. to know the feilds you can do the F1 help as said by you or else you can use the recording in and can take the feilds from their, while recording system records every feild where you make the entry so that no feild is missed. you can do mapping while doing LSMW its nothing but feild by feild mapping of your source file(legacy data) and feild in SAP table.

2) You can use any free tools to convert other files format to .DAT format. OR you can export some sample data and edit the data and re-import the data to SAP.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick turn around. I know the different process for phrase loads. i want to know which process is the best out of these two process

1) By LSMW's or BDC's

2) Phrase import.

and if,

1) I use LSMW's, how should be the format of the legacy data and how do we map this legacy data to be in compatible format to load in SAP.how do we know what are the neccessary feilds to be captured in Excel to load phrases, can i go to the cg12 screen and do the F1 on each feild to know the technical details of the feild, will this help me?

2) I use import function, how to prepare the existiing data in Excel or Text file to the .dat format which is the upload format through import phrases?

please help me in this regard.
