I assume that 'Leave' is a typo...
The term 'leaf' part/component is used in SAP EHSM Product Compliance for the lowest level part in a product structure (without supplier or basic material assignments).
Please have a look at Creating Product Structures by BOM Transfer - Product Compliance (EHS-MGM-PRC) - SAP Library
'... If a BOM item contains a material, which has neither purchasing information nor basic material information maintained, the BOM transfer will create a compliance object for this material and mark it as leaf component. ...'
