Issue with STEP files in SAP VEA 8.0

Visual Enterprise Author will not open STEP files.

I get an error message of:

"the file was not read successfully due to one of the following reasons: the file is defective; there are no objects in the file; the format version is not supported; supporting components are not installed (check the import log on the status bar for more information)"

The very same file I get this error message with, I sent to a coworker who had no issue getting it to open.

I am not sure why it will not open for me.

Hi Tyler,

The message you are seeing is a generic message as for any files that application can not load. I suggest you to check 'import log' which might give more information about why file can't be loaded. Double click on the icon as shown below to get to import log.
