Issue with reference vs Inheriatnce Relations

Dear Experts ,

Although one spec was referenced and deleted earlier from reference tab , when I try to assign another spec through inheritance tab , it still shows error message - Specification xxx cannot inherit data : it is receiving data by inheritance .Has anyone faced this kind of issue before ?

no easy answer possible. Do you use "change numbers"?

Normally: e.g. you have a "REAL_SUB" with having reference to "REAL_GRP". Now you delete this reference. Then you change and you perform an "inheritance" to the same REAL_GRP. This should be possible.

Can you show some screenshots?
