Issue with automatic creation of cProjects from PPM 5.0

Cannot automatically create cProjects when PPM Item is saved. I am in PPM 5.0. Have below config in place

  1. In Config, Item Type is Checked for Auto Project create
  2. cProject Template created and released.
  3. In config, Item Type is assigned for Project Templates
  4. In config, Item template is assigned to Project template
  5. When saving Item the cProject Template is picked through drop down and SAVED.

I know this is standard functions in PPM 5.0 and not sure why its giving me tough time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Below are config Screen shots

Dear All,

Hope the issue is fixed. I would like to add the points for Portfolio Item to cProject creation automatically.

Before doing this SAP Master switch under Global setting should be present.

  1. Create Project Type and map Phase Type, Task Type and Checklist Type etc
  2. Create Project Management Template using the Project Type
  3. Create portfolio type
  4. Create item type and map decision point
  5. Map decision point to Project Phases
  6. Map item type to Portfolio type
  7. Map item type to Project Templates (created in step 2) choose default if you want.
  8. Map Item type to Project Type
  9. Under Common Function, DFM Settings -> Maintain object for Synchronization, maintain below entry

   10. If default has not been chosen in step 7 then select template in item creation screen and check "create project on saving"

Hope this will resolve the issue for creation

Hello,

In configuration you need to link item type to cProject template ( I think it is your step 3), with this option when you create an item you can choose a cProject template, if you don't want to choose  you can select in configuration one by default( flag default) .

I think you shouldnt configure step 4 and step 3 for the same kind of projects.

Try to select template by default ( step 3) and delete for your item template settings in step 4 and let us know your result,

Clara sorry for responding late (was off).

Tried your OPTIONS and still no luck. Any other clues will help me a lot.

Hello,

Do you have any error or the item is created correctly and not the cProject?

Hello,

No idea what can be the reason of your problem. My advice is review the cProject template and create a very simple cProject template ( with only a project) to check in this case if it is working fine or not.

Check also if you have defined any mandatory field in the cProject that you are not transferring from PPM or entering in the template.

Sreeni,

Followed your thread. Tried DFM settings but unfortunately while configuring @ "Maintain Objects for Synchronization", under this i do not find the SOURCE GROUP as "Item" which is specified as in COnfig help. Any clue ??

Any clue will be greatly appreciated

Hi Expert,

I am not really sure and also curious why standard list of config entries missing in this instance.

I suggest you do a client comparison with the golden client and correct/adjust the config entries first and follow up with the configuration we were discussing.

Hi Experts,

I am also having a similar problem. I have also done the necessary configurations for now my scenario is this.

When creating an item manually:

1. checkbox for create project when saving is configured and is automatically checked at the time of item creation.

2. project templates i need are all present.

3. After saving it, a cproject is being created.

4. no problem with this scenario

When creating an item using mass upload rpm_dx_item.

1. Item is being created

2. values i put are also present, including the project template i want to use

3. checkbox is unchecked(which is one of the problem)

4. when I tried to check it, then save it hoping it will create a project.

5. item successfully saved but the project is not created

I hope you can help me find a solution to this problem.

thanks,

James

Hi,

The configuration guide in SAP Note 1411953 should help.

Take a look at chapters:

"Defining Settings for Assigning a Project to an Item",

"Defining Settings for Decision Flow Management"
