How to add multiple SAP systems with the same SID to a single SAP Solution Manager system during a migration from on premise system into the Hyperscaler like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure?

Dear,

Assuming a system XXX is installed on one server, then after a "copy" of the source system to an Azure infrastructure, over a different DB Hostname server, correct? So, this will generate a different system number for this second XXX system.

Following that, by checking the resolution section provided in KBA 3417361:

  • As SID, Installation Number, and DB Hostname are a system's key entries, please ensure that the key entries (Installation Number & DB Hostname) are not the same. SAP Solution Manager can manage the systems with the same SID in this scenario. An extended SID is automatically generated for the second or the third system to distinguish the difference.

Here are the steps you need to take:

  1. Ensure that the key entries (Installation Number & DB Hostname) are not the same for the two systems. This is because SID, Installation Number, and DB Hostname are a system's key entries.
  2. SAP Solution Manager can manage the systems with the same SID in this scenario. An extended SID is automatically generated for the second or the third system to distinguish the difference.
  3. At LMDB level, there will be two different technical systems XXX and XXX00001.
  4. ChaRM is using the configuration item of the production system in the change documents. Therefore, only when the production system gets replaced, you will need to take care of changing the configuration item of the production system.
