Is it necessary to install MII when I want to do OEE on SAP ME?

Hello,

I want to know that if I want to turn on function OEE on SAP. Is it necessary to install MII?

Hi Mohamed, unfortunately your interpretation of the slide is incorrect. SAP ME is not based on MII. Both SAP ME and SAP MII are java based applications that run on a Netweaver Java stack. Both are independent solutions and do not require each other to execute, however they are very closely integrated and some functionality of ME is actually carried out in MII. Please refer to SAP Note 1409811 for more details.

Anh to answer you question, it depends on which OEE solution you are talking about. If its the MII OEE solution then yes you need MII, if its the OEE functionality in ME then I would say it will probably work without MII but my question would by considering ME comes with MII as a package why dont you want to install MII ?

In fact, SAP ME is based on MII so, if you do have SAP ME, it means that you already have SAP MII as you can see in the figure below from this site.
