Inheritance Template issue

Hi Gurus

When i am trying add the Value assignment type with in the template, i am getting the message as unable to display property tree.

Here is my back ground info:

  1. Source spec [ZPK_CORR] with one Property tree
  2. Target Spec[ZPK_CASE] with source spec property tree + another property tree which belongs to only target spec
  3. For Target spec type[ZPK_CASE] added the ZPK_CORR in referencing between Spec type config.
  4. Both belongs to Specification category - Packaging
  5. For the source Spec type, i made sure to check the inheritance option when i created the table based entries.

---

Now i created the inheritance template ZPK_COR and saved,

But when i try to assign the value assignment class, i am unable to do, please see the image, can any one see why this is happening.

I also tired, once i created the inheritance template, i added to the target spec via source spec by adding the template and spec number, and when to edit the template to see if i can add the value assignment type, but still i wasn't able to do it.

Dear Amar

my assumption would be that you are looking at the "wrong" place. First you need to make sure that the specification types do have a "property tree" which can be displayed.

If you check the list of potential properties trees in the screen: do you find one? If not you can assume that some customizing is missing. Please check

Hi Chris

Where do you think i might have missed the config, I checked but didn't felt that i was missing anything.

Thanks

Dear Amar

may be my hint was not a good one. In the same customizing activity (just check your picture) there is the "assignment" of property tree to spec type done. Please check what is in side. Next pay attention on this: I assume you use transaction CG02BD. This is he "most" general one to do maintenance per specification category.  The specification categroy is an additional key element in many subsequent customizing. You need therefore to pay attention here (in some customizing activities cou can assign a "category" (not mandatory) but if you do this, then in CG02BD you will see "nothing" based on the category you are lloking for.

Here the EH&S "flexibility" in customizing can give rise of trouble if you do not takle care
