Hi EHSM Experts,
I would like to seek your guidance to understand some basics about the automatic workflow to Incident Manager when an incident is reported. Using the standard SAP process definitions with automatic workflow triggering, I understand that once the incident is successfully recorded, responsible Incident Manager(s) are notified. Incident Managers are those who have the role SAP_EHSM_HSS_INCIDENT_MANAGER.
In a scenario where there are multiple Plants with each plant having separate Incident Manager(s) is it possible to restrict the incident notification to the Incident Manager responsible for the Location where the incident occurred? Or is the SAP standard design such that the system would identify the correct Incident Manager using the HR Organisation Structure and the Location of the incident and then send the notification?
I read in a book that the role SAP_EHSM_HSS_INCIDENT_MANAGER can be made Location specific using the using the authorization object EHHSS_INC5 (Incident by Location) and field LOCAUTHGRP. If so, should I create separate Plant specific roles like Z_SAP_EHSM_HSS_INCIDENT_MANAGER_PlantA, PlantB, etc., and then assign the roles manually to the Incident Management tasks for each Plant, using transaction PFTC_CHG ? (The list of Tasks is available in the documentation for the report R_EHHSS_CONFIG_TASK_ROLES).
We will be getting our S/4 HANA system soon but I am doing the preparatory work.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
Interesting question. There are two options to resolve this issue
- Do a enhancement and create a custom table with all the list of plants and associated Incident Managers and based on the Plant and incident manager mapping trigger notifications
- Using the standard Incident Manager Role to filer out the plants / Locations control the notifications. I have used the authorization to control the display of Incidents which belongs to specific location based on Location controls, but I never got opportunity to test for triggering the incident notifications. it is very easy to do a test for the second scenario; Create a user; Copy the existing Incident Manager Role and make the adjustments to location attributes and create a new incident.
Thanks and Regards

HI
If you include multiple plants then authorization will impact all the Users in those Plant. You may tried to check if you can enhance with other location attributes in the location master.

Hi Jayakumar,
One clarification on the 2nd option proposed by you, please - Using the standard Incident Manager Role to filter out the plants / Locations control the notifications. I have used the authorization to control the display of Incidents which belongs to specific location based on Location controls,
In this scenario will we be able to use the standard Incident Manager role to filter out Plants / Location? Don't we need to copy the standard Incident Manager role and create Location specific copies as Z_INCIDENT_MANAGER_<Plant Code>? For a multi plant scenario, if we assign users to the standard Incident Manager role, they will be coming from multiple plants. So we will not be able to assign specific Plant to the standard role and all users with the role will access incidents across all the Plants. Please correct me if am wrong.

Mohan
