Inactivation or Deletion of DG Master records in Mass

Dear Experts

In One of my projects, I have created new specifications (Replica of the existing specifications with new number range as a part of data cleanup proj.) and now I will be assigning the Existing Materials (materials are same , using exsting) to the newly created specifications. (de coupling material from existing specifications and assigning to the newly created specifications)

In the above process, I will have to create new DG Master for the newly formed Material- specification assignment. Here I am still not able to articulate the approach to deal with the existing DG master.

Should DG Master entries be set to Inactive(deactivate) from yesterday's date and recreate the new DG master with new Mat-spec assignment from current date ?

Or

Delete all the existing DG Master entries before creating the new DG master for the new mat - spec?

Out of these two options which is better and safe ?

  1. Will there be any impact on the existing Sales & Delivery process? For example, If Sales order is of last week and delivery and Picking will be done in the next week, then the active and Inactive dates of two different DG master will cause an issue or not ?
  2. Is there any way we can do a Mass deletion or deactivation of DG Master records at one go ? I see only option is to list output DG Master using Regulation and set the deletion for the entries hit list entries in DGP2

Thanks in Advance

Ashish

Hello Ashish,

I am no DG expert, but DG masters are material specific. So if you assign the "old" materials to new REAL_SUBs and fill the DG master for these materials again, the old master records will be deactivated automatically in that sense that their to-validity date will be changed to today and the new master records will have a from-validity date of today. So you will never have a material without a valid DG master and SD should not be impacted.

Best regards,

Ralph
