Import Report Template

Hello,

I wanted to Import one Report template.

I have Label.dat file on my desktop.

Case 1

with CG3Z I am taking file on Application Server. here I am selcting Transfer Format Data BIN

with name I:\usr\sap\ECF\SYS\global\LABEL

then in CG34 I am selecting Character Standerd ISO-R/3

Now when I am trying to export the same, i am getting error

Cannot open file I:\usr\sap\ECF\SYS\global\LABEL.DOC ()

Case 2

with CG3Z I am taking file on Application Server. here I am selcting Transfer Format Data BIN

with name I:\usr\sap\ECF\SYS\global\LABEL.doc

then in CG34 I am selecting Character Standerd ISO-R/3

Now when I am trying to export the same, i am getting RUN TIME ERROR

and Error Text is that File "I:\usr\sap\ECF\SYS\global\LABEL.doc" is already opened.

all other my SAP Sesssion are closed, still same error

Could you please guide me in this regard.

Hello Amol,

Each Report template is made up of two files - one ending with "Doc" and one ending with "dat" extension.

To import those files inside SAP System you need to check in both the files one after the other in BIN & ASCII formats.

Once you check in the files use the import functionality to actually load it to the SAP database, during that time system accesses the wwi and you need to check the template to ensure it does not contain any errors.

Since you are already uploaded the files - I suggest you to again upload with a option to "Overright" and carry out the templates import.

Thanks for the reply.

When I have tried to imort the template in ASCII format

I got following Run time error

A character set conversion is not possible.

so I have imported the template in BIN format.

then I have gone to CG34, selecting Character Standerd ISO-R/3 the Transfer the getting follwing Run Time Error

Short text

File "F:\usr\sap\IE6\SYS\global\M1ASCBIN.doc" is already opened.

this file is NOT open at my end.

Also as metioned by you, I have cheked the Template.. it does not contain any syntax error and this template is also in RELEASED status..

Also I have selected OVERRIGHT opion in CG3Z transaction

Hello Amol,

Check you template character standard - MS - NT, ISO R/3 or other and do the import

Ensure you import the template ending with doc using BIN format and dat using ASCI format

As written above it should be in overwrite mode.

Check if you have authorization to file location for import / Export and also if you still face problem try chaning the location.

Hello,

I’m also getting error message "Cannot open file ..." when using CGZ3 transaction, and finally the reason was that the application server specific directory was full. We’ve contacted with basics team to clean it up and no longer got the error.
