Hello,
We have a scenario where, safety observations are needed to be recorded.
A hypothetical situation would be, a person sees a safety violation by contractor and reports it through safety observation.
The observation will be recoded against the categories like: PPE, Tools and Equipment etc. and type like Unsafe Act / Unsafe condition. It should also record the potential injury like fatality, serios injury etc.against Safety observation.
I tried mapping it through Safety measures, but its not convincing. Actually safety measures should be created for taking action agianst some observation / Action / Risk .
Does anyone have any idea how to map this process in EHS?
Regards,
Niraj
Hello Niraj,
It can be mapped through one of the Incident types, You can create safety observations as incident types like Unsafe act and Unsafe condition and you can record all the observations of PPE, Tools and Equipment under this category and subsequently you can specify Safety Measures for these incident types.
If you need further clarifications, let me know

Hello Keshav,
Thanks for the reply.
I was thinking on the same line, but still have few issues:
1) A person takes the round and finds few observations, now for each of the observation he has made, he needs to create a saparate Inc / Acc log entry, which I feel is little impractical.
2) Each log entry will undergo a normal status profile for Inc / Acc.
Practical example is , a person reports safety observation, it will have status created, then safety measure will be created, and after completion of job, safety measure will be closed. Now here safety observation should also be closed directly. Instead it goes to the normal statuls profile like Created -> In Process -> Conference and then closeed.
Can we have a separate status profile for a particular Inc / Acc log entry type?
Regards,
Niraj
Hi Niraj, No, It's not possible to maintain separate status profile at incident type level. Ideally here are my views
1. Unsafe condition and Unsafe act if observed, it should ideally follow some safety measures or action items, In order to track these it is advantageous if you create as a incident type and using status mechanism you can have an option to develop reports/workflow which helps you reduce your efforts by taking only active incidents rather than closed ones.
2.Though it is impractical, if you see it from sap point of view it has got more value addition to your Safety Procedures. Once they get used to it, it would be Regular activity. Also you have mentioned some times Injuries associated with Unsafe act or Unsafe condition if created should under go status mechanism, other wise tracking will not be possible.
Hope this will help you in taking right decision.

Keshav
