How to update a filter in a table on SAP Business Client 6.5

I use the SAP Business client 6.5 for my job, and i monitor shipments in the DSD monitor. I have a filter that was set to only monitor my drivers, and i need to update that filter. I have clicked on the table configuration, added the new driver's device id to the filter. I have named and created the variant, and set as my 'default' setting, BUT it doesn't seem to save. i go out, go back in, and it still has the original filter settings.. can someone help me figure this out?
