Hello Gurus,
I have the following business case:
Planning strategy is make to stock:
we produce a semi-finished material which at the release of the production order, we select a specific characteristic. whether A or B.
after the semi finished product is in stock, then we receive a sales order and this semi finished will be packed. (Strategy: make to order).
the question is, as we have the same material, how can we make the planning for the material with characteristic A and from characteristic B?
Is it possible to see the planning independently`?
thanks a lot !!!
Request clarification before answering.
Do you have the same quality indicators for the different characteristics? Inventory could be managed by different grades of the materials. If all you are doing is packing the material, why does this need to involve SAP ME? Or is packaging the last operation to transition the material from semi-finished to finished goods? What kind of characteristics are you classifying the materials by?

Hello agentry_src.
we have one characteristic with two values for example: W for warm quality and C for cold quality.
At the production order release we can select one or the other value inside the characteristic. we are producing to have the parts in stock. as soon as a sales order arrive, then we pack the product. as you correctly mentioned, after packaging we have a finished product.
In the class (CL01) I have added the characteristic created before. hope i answer
Are the W or C assigned to the product as a result of testing? So why not have two materials or have them assigned as a finished product quality level like unrestricted-use which is Stock Type 1. Create two different restricted stock types for each of the two characteristics. I have worked with IM folks before who have done something similar. In that case there was unrestricted type ST1 and a restricted use stock type 2. In their case the two types were different only in a slight deviation from the color spec. The restricted use was sold for a lower price to customers who were willing to accept a slight color difference.
Cheers, Mike
Are you looking to have separate inventories for order fulfillment? If so, I would check with your inventory management folks regarding the characteristics you have and how to segregate the two materials. They may suggest the restricted inventory approach or possibly something else. This is now getting outside my expertise. Good luck!
