SAP EHS S/4HANA Environment Management is part of the core of S/4HANA, I would recommend this version since all new developments and innovations will be released on S/4HANA version. It is also available in ECC as an add on and the first generation is under maintenance on the Java Netweaver Stack. Hope this helps.
forget about the "old solution". If you look on SAP roadmap only the new solution(EHSM) is currently of interest. And if you look 5 years in future. Even this is not true anymore as then we will have S/4 HANAS solutions which will be different.
So get in touch with Hitesh (or with somebody else from SAP) to get the "big picture" regarding "today" and "future" solutions
