How to do realistic rendering?

I am trying to render a couple of products watches, Phones, cases etc. although I know how to use the material, textures, bumps etc I am not able to get quality output from the HDR raytracer, I tried various experiments with the render settings but it is till not upto the mark.

May be I am missing something, is there a guide/tutorial on how to render which explains all the available settings.

Plus is there a way we can increase the polygon count of an object.

Mark,

Looks nice. the model is still a concept and I am working on creating a more accurate one.

is there a way you can share the .RH file?

do you have an environment other than the ones provided with the software package.

if you could post screenshots of the render settings windows it would help.

thanks,

Rohit

Attached is a render. The CAD model needs more filleting and the strap would need a lot more work to be realistic. Let me know if you need some more help and advice. watch3.jpg

You will need a better model of the strap to get closer to the rendering. Also some filleting in the CAD model to round sharp edges will make a big difference. However attached is a render I did with the data. Let me know if you need the model and more instruction.

Hi Rohit,

I need to see what effects exactly you would like to achieve, can you send me email with the model?

I have the UV co-ordinates setup.

Upon rendering I do not get realistic effects (like Vray or Mental Ray)

are there any render plugins for VEA? is there a guide on how to setup the settings for the HDR ray tracer.

Yes, in order to make texture look correct, objects should have UV's.

Hi Rohit,

Do you have texture coordinates on all objects?
