HAZMAT_CHK_MOT check in DG

Hi,

How does the FM HAZMAT_CHK_MOT check work in DG?

I have read all the documentation on it, which explains that the FM checks the mode of transport in Sales Order. It then compares it with the "Transport not permitted" indicator in DG Master. If the indicator is checked, then it blocks the Outbound delivery. I have some questions here:

1. What should be the business practice if this check is implemented? Will the EHSM manager in the business have to make this check manually in DG Master? What would be the basis of this check? Would it be based on the Sales Order?

2. If the check is going to block the Delivery solely based on the "Transport not permitted indicator", what is the point in checking the Sales Order for Mode of transport?

2. Does this also mean that any Sales Order before being processed for delivery has to be run through the EHSM department?

3. Since Mode of Transport is not a direct field in Sales Order, how would the EHSM clerk know what mode of transport the sales order corresponds to?

Can any of you please elaborate on the significance of this check..? What advantage does it offer business? Am i missing something here with respect to functionality?

Thank you,

Sruthi

Hi Sruthi

Functional Module  " HAZMAT_CHK_MOT"  is used for Mixed Loading Check  is used for avoiding the transportation of  two  in compatable materials at a time ,

For Example : Class 3 Substances (Flammables) should not transport with Class 5.2 Substances(Organic Peroxides) which may cause Hazard if these are mixed unfortunately during transportation.

Best of my Knowledge I will give you one example  business scenario  of  DG Implemented Manufacturing Organisation which will give answers for all of your above Questions.

M/s ABC is Chemical Manufacturing Industry and they have global clients in US ,Europe & ROW(Rest of the World)  and ABC is  started using DG component.

They are started adding their products in Dangerous Goods master , while adding they will add all the data with respect to Mode of Transport , Mode of package , Mode Qty. for Example

Few Dangerous Goods Regulations

  • ADR for road transport (in Europe)
  • IATA for airfreight
  • IMDG for sea transport
  • RID for railways (in Europe)
  • CFR_ROAD for road transport (US)

These regulations specify which product may or may not be transported by the respective means of transport, and under which circumstances (quantity, packaging, and so on) they are allowed to be transported.

During filling  of DG Master for Product "X" they are mentioned Mode of Transport " Road way" .

All the above is  Pre Configuration process which will Done by implementation team by taking the inputs from  BPO (Busine process Owner , Ex:- EHS Senior Team member).

.........................

M/s ABC is getting requirement from their  customer for Product " X" and customer  asked the sales person of M/s ABC  that product very urgent and he asked  to ship that Material through Air.

then the Sales Person is started creating  the Sales Order and in the sales order he is selected Mode of Transport is "Air"  and then he perform the DG Check for the product 'X" . The System Automatically check with DG Master for Product 'X' , in that DG Master already we are predefined  Mode of transport will be "Road" as per DG Regulations. Hence the system will automatically reject the Creation of Sales order due to  non compliance of DG Regulations ( In Compatible Mode of Transport.)

Then Automatically the concern sales person is informed their client that they are not able to ship the Product 'X' through Road due to not complying Regulatory Norms.

............................................................................................................

Please note all the Dangerous goods regulations are country Specific for Example  if your product is  shipped from your Country to another country (L) while shipping it will go through Country (Z).

you should comply both Country (Z) & (L) DG Regulations.

The Main Aim of DG Regulations is  to prevent accidents and minimize negative impacts on humans and the environment, certain transport.

For the organisations who are supplying their products globally without using DG Component is little bit tough for them we can say , why  becoz following / Updating the dangerous goods regulations manually is difficult and some times they will screw up with regulatory agencies. for example in above business scenarios if M/s ABC is not using  DG Component , the sales guy may process the sales order  through Air as per customer request and particular Manufacturer may be in trouble during transportation time due to non compliance of regulations.

the main Benefits for the organisation if they use the DG Component is

1) They will maintain all Dangerous goods information which are manufactured and used in their          organisation

2) There is Tight Integration with Logistics ( My Above Example)

3) They can Control Movement of Hazardeous goods under various DG Regulations.

Thank you
