GLM Printing - is there a SAP transaction that I can check on the number of labels printed out

Hi,

I've got a question from a user whether it is possible to find out in SAP how many drum labels were printed off from a specific Batch.

They are looking around Label Reconciliation and would like to know how many labels were printed so they can determine from the Batch card how many are needed to be destroyed by QA.

I did think of S_SH8_84000399 transaction but it doesn't give the level of detail as indicated above.

I don't think the print log from the servers would help either as it just tells you what labels were printed but it wouldn't be the most effective way nor fulfil the requirements.

Many thanks.

Maria

Hi Satya

When I put CBGLWB into the box on SAP, it comes back as not exist so I can't proceed on this one. I'll see if I can get someone to help me who has programming knowledge. Many thanks.

Dear  Maria

for use of so called "GLM+" you must have the "right" SAP software in place (and according to my knowlegde) you must activate a Business Function.

T code: CBGLWB belonsg to "GLM". If you haven't used in the past "GENIFIX" (hint of Satya) or if you might still use it. forget about that. With S/4 HANA at least you will have no support any more

PS: check this very good document describing GLM+:

Hello Maria,

The user is quite specific in their requirements: the number of labels printed for a specific batch as part of their label reconciliation process.

This you can achieve through CBGLWB for batch level can you check once.

Thanks

Thanks Satya. What happens if we don't have CBGLWB set up on SAP? I assume this is a transaction code or do I need to go to a specific transaction code and populate CBGLWB in a field? Thanks a lot.

Dear Maria

we need to differentiate the "checks" you can do in SAP and in other places.

in SAP; as explained by anybody, you have some options to check. But the "physical" part ist not easy. At the end you generate a "print stream" to a "print spooler"; it can happen that spooler part etc. is not up and running etc. and therefore no "physical" printing is done. Same issue can happen in MSDS printing. A lot of options in SAP to "check": but at the end: only the paper from printer is the clear indication that there was something printed (and this is not a SAP issue; in my opinon would be the same if we would discuss eg. other ERP systems)

Hi Christophe,

From what I gather from everyone's replies so far, I don't think there is a way to obtain that kind of detailed information from SAP.

The user is quite specific in their requirements: the number of labels printed for a specific batch as part of their label reconciliation process.

Thanks a lot.

Maria,

can you try this transaction code CBGL_MP01 or CBGLWB for All data and user actions that are changed or executed in label printing.

For more Information , go through below mentioned link before executing for system logs data when you perform the following tasks:

  • Print or edit the values in label print
  • Edit or print print requests or print request bodies in the Labeling Workbench

Logging in Global Label Management - Global Label Management (EHS-SAF-GLM) - SAP Library

Hi Maria Wilson

Any progress here ?

Thanks

Do you only need the planned number of labels as it is available in the PIS? Then you can download this to Excel and do the calculation there.

If you want the number of printed labels back from spool and printer I assume this is not possible.

Best regards,

Gernot

Hi Gernot,

Could you clarify what you mean by PIS, please?

I will ask your second question and get back to you when I know more. Thanks a lot.

PIS - Print Information System. It is an activity in CBGLWB. We use it for adapt the created print requests bevor we finally print them out.

It's no separate Transaction hence I can't give you any TA code.

Hi Gernot,

Thanks for the clarification. Please see my reply to Satya above for an update.

I have tried CBGLWB in SE37 and it doesn't look like we have it set up at all.

Thanks a lot.

Hi Maria,

you can check with NAST table, if it is through output type.

Thanks

Hi Satya,

I guess I am to go to SE16N and look up NAST table from there? I got a Runtime Error after running that transaction.

So I tried SE16 > NAST table which looks easier to navigate.

I'm not sure if a Batch number would go in any of the fields. Would 'OBJKY' field be of use? It seems to prompt for Sales Order or a Purchase Order.

The other possibility is LDEST where I could put the Device name in and check that way?

Hey Maria,

You dint close the thread CG36VEN - How to add a Vendor to appear in the Vendor field in this transaction

Your right if you have output printer for GLM you can check through LDEST, is that only possibility.

I can agree with Gernot Ditten on this you have to calculate through excel, or your need to create some custom program.

Thanks

Satya

Hi Satya,

That's not really helped me in what the user has asked.

I'm not sure whether there is a SAP function that would give the level of detail the user wants to be honest.

They basically want to know how many batch labels have been printed off for certain batches. This is quite specific. I'm not sure whether this is possible.
