I am getting the Error of " Cannot create the Value File" while previewing the report

please suggest me

Hi Balajee/Experts,

I am getting the same error now. when I am trying to out report using "Report From Template" I am getting the same error.

As mentioned above I have checked the data carries it is maintained as SAP- SYSTEM

We cant implement the note 1022497 in our system as the status of the note is "Cant Be Implemented"

could you please let me know how you have resolved the above problem.

Dear Dheeraaj,

The best thing to do is to maintain the settings prescribed for DMS as per sap note:1091699

You can use the utility program RC14SXDVSCHECK to check the most important DMS

functions that are used by EH&S. if there is any error, check the DMS system and correct

the settings.

If the data carrier is maintained as "SAP-SYSTEM", not required to look after any note

related to archive link.whenever you create a template, that will create a document no. in DMS. As mentioned by experts, for creating document no. program checks for authorizations and also to edit the

existing document.

It is cross integrated with DMS, SAP and WWI server. check with the administration team, if

you have proper authorizations in this entire activity by taking out the trace. and also check

and ensure the RFC connections are working in proper

I am sorry to say: in most cases this type of error is related to recent changes in WWI layout. The WWI "syntax" check integrated in WWI is trying to help you. But errors like this can get you "frustrated". In most cases it is related to "wrong" nesting, problems with WWI sevrer, access issues etc. Sometimes this (and similar errors) will comeup only depending on data situation on specification.

May be check as well: Solutions to error msgs that occur during report generation

Especially iof error occurs during "Report from template" process there is no conflict with DMS set up (in most cases).

Check may be: WWI: Generation server as a Windows service

In most cases it is nearly not possible as SCN member to really help you

The intersting part is I am facing this problem only with one specification,for other specifications the template works fine.

Dear Dheeraj

this is one of the "issues" comming up very often.You need to "compare" the specifications. Because of the different data in one case the WWI process comes to a point there it can not go on because e.g. wrong nesting of WWI code has been done. There are a lot if similar examples in this FORUM dealing with this effect. That means on one spec WWI layout works fine but using a different one the WWI process "crash".

One option is: use the spec there it does not work and "only" deactivate the "active indicator" (in CG02) (one after the other). You will get an idea e.g. in which property etc. the problem is coming up. Then you need to ask yourself: what is wrong with "this" WWI code (and yes: it can take a time to detect the issue !)?

This is one reason why I generated: and hoping the content might help the community.

It is always a very good idea to prepare more than one "test" Spec with different data situations to make sure that this effect will not happpen in reality (that means prod system).

Hi Balajee..!

Have u solved the error..? I also got the error when printing more than one graphic(specification symbol) using Master Repeating Group. When I checked the error log, it was expecting Discrete expansion also.

I included that and now its fine.. But i learned that the error " Cannot create the Value File " will come for many reason. In any case check for the Trace & Log (in the preview option). Accordingly u can solve the error.

Can u post your error log..?

Dear all

I assume now that any body hvaing the error uses either CG02 or CG02BD with "Create report from template".

Best options is to go on with analyis are:

1.) what was the recent change in WWI layout; did the version before work => then you have "detected" the issue

2.) I assume on the top that anybody has used Cg42 and "checked" they layout with "no" error

3.) And I assume that anly SAP standard symbols are part of the layout

If these assumption are correct something like the above mentioned error message can lead to analysis phase between one ad 5 days. The "simplest" option to handle this analysis is to generate "subtemplates" and test them independent until you find the "subpart" of the layout which is relevant for this error (there are some risks in that approach but normally you receive fast results)

The error (and similar ones) can happen "rarely". That means WWI layout ccheck detects "green"! but a.) because of data structure etc. during the selection of the data the process "stucks" and no data can be retrieved. It is not easy to detect the "error" part; and WWI does not support "debuge" like ABAP (you have only logging and cecking).

Hope this helps as hints to resolve the issues

I agree with you Chirstoph that this issue was related to issues with template layout because when I changed the template the error got resolved. I wanted to know more details from you about dependent and independent templates and how dependent templates work, if possible SAP link for the same.

1.) do you use "Report from Template"?

2.) or do you sue CG54/Cg50 to retrieve the report?

3.) which scenario do you use? Local WWI installation?

The value file is an important part in the generation of a report either in CG50 or in CG02 (report from template). Either problems in DMS or report template are possible or if you sue local WWI local WWI installation need to be checked.

Therefore please describe your scenario in more detail

Hi Balajee,

If you are dealing with the "Archive link" to store your documents, these kind of errors could be possible.

for the same, check the configuration in below path -

SPRO > Environment, Health & Safety > Basic data and tools > Tools > Document Storage > EH&S Archive link > Assign EH&S documents types to Data carriers.

Here, if you find the data carrier other than "SAP-SYSTEM", for any of the documents especially - DBE, DBV, SBE, SBR, SBV, etc.,

If you have possibility to change the settings to "SAP-SYSTEM", in your development or sand box systems, try to do and test again. In this case you have a possibility to come out of the error, as the documents are getting stored in SAP SYSTEM instead of Archive link.

Reason -

while generating the preview, program expects one more document no. other than existing. but here for both the documents a single No. available. so the document cannot be read.

If you would like to continue with Archive-link, you have to implement the SAP NOTE - 1022497

check the possibilities, and take an action.

I am also getting the same error, scenario is that I am trying to view the report template in CG02BD however Iam getting the message "error in generation of value file", this is only for a particular template not for all the templates.

Please guide.
