ERP-DMC integration scenario: Automatic assignment of production routing in order

Dear SAP community,

we would like to fulfill the following integration scenario of routing data between SAP ECC and DMC (Digital Manufacturing Cloud):

Currently for each production order sent from ERP to DMC via LOIPRO-IDoc an "order specific routing" is created and assigned to the DMC order. In our current use case, we would like to have automatically assigned the "production routing" sent via LOIROU-IDoc instead.

Is such an integration scenario feasible and if yes how?

The SAP documentation we found on this issue: Transferring a Production Order is not going very much into details. Is there a comprehensive integration HOW-TO available?

Hi Daniel,

With 2208 release SAP provided a solution for this one. You can check 'Order Processing Mode' field in manage materials. You can enrich master routing with DMC specific operations or you can use local DMC override scenarios.

Got it. Unfortunatelly, as far as I know and last time I checked, the feature you are describing of enhancing the routing in DMC level itself with extra operations/steps was not yet there.

Hi Manoel,
same here - also with current DMC version (2111) I did not see any functionality supporting this use case.

It would be great to hear from the SAP community how others are dealing with such requirements yet.
I guess it's a common issue that you have to detail the routing the closer you get to production.

Hi Daniel,

Currently, a new Order Specific Routing is indeed created and assigned for every new order received in DMC from ERP systems via LOIPRO IDOC.

One of the roles of Production Routings / Master Routings is enable Routing Enrichments.

So, if you send a Master Routing from ERP to DMC via LOIROU IDOC, creating a Production Routing in DMC, and in Manage Routings you assign Work Instructions, Data Collections at Header or Operation level, or set Relaxed Flow flag, for example, these will be copied to Order Specific routings by the time they are created for new Production Orders.

Work instructions and data collection groups assigned to master routings are copied to order-specific routings during order download from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP S/4HANA, and ERP. Component tolerances assigned to master BOMs are copied to order-specific BOMs during order download from SAP S/4HANA Cloud, SAP S/4HANA, and ERP.

Hi Manoel,

thank you very much for your reply and sharing the corresponding links to the DMC Help.

However, our use case goes beyond the enrichment of order specific routing with Data Collections and Work Instructions:

We would like to further refine the order specific routing with routing steps / (sub-)operations not relevant for the ERP system.
The routing in DMC should reflect the production process in detail whereas the ERP routing should be more general (aggregated on main operations).
