Hi colleagues,

We are looking to integrate with any SAP Application where the MSDS (SDS) ie. the chemical or materials datasheet resides. It can SAP Ariba, SAP PLM, SAP Chemicals, Recipe management.

At this point we are not sure, where these resources reside and how (via api/other technical means) can we access these.

Could you please advice

Hello

I assume this: you have some "application" in which data is maintained/prepared: Using this data you would like to find a document (e.g.MSDS) in some SAP system.

In a nutshell this is possible:

1.) by using a material number or a "REAL_SUB" number

2.) by specifiying generation variant/language (and assuming you would like to check only "released" MSDS)

3.) and by adding a "sales organisation"

4.) You can get a "pdf" file (representing a MSDS; RTF file or Wordfile is possible as well) from an SAP ERP system; in this system the "EHS" application must be installed fully and be used by business to maintain/handle SDS/MSDS; we do have "RFC" and other options to support this kind of process (Retrieve SDS/MSDS from SAP ERP system)

Your topic is discussed on some level quite regularly here.

Please check first (to get an idea) the so called "Web Interface" which have been sold by "Technidata"; This process is not available any more. You will find threads/blogs here discussing this (and other similar options)

Check here (in this FORUM) for any thread/blog referring to the "extraction of MSDS/SDS" from SAP

The MSDS/SDS is normally managed in SAP EHS module. PLease check the blog:

https://blogs.sap.com/2013/05/07/sap-ehs-management-for-beginners/

You will find hopefully enough help

But in an nutshell:

1.) you can design such a process

2.) the process is stable

3.) But YOU must design it

So you have enough IT options to do the job; but no "out of the box"standard feature

C.B.
