Question,
What is the best method, using the C# based VEV SDK to obtain dynamic resolution. The authoring program VEA requires setting a given "output" resolution for the scene and steps within procedures in the VEA 8.0 SP5 P1.
Our current customer required the content to be adaptable to varying screen resolutions and aspect ratios. What would be the best method to obtain 'auto-scaling' capability for VEV packaged in the current VEV SDK that is not internet browser dependent?
Thanks for you help.

Thanks Vlad,
The issue we have been having is the textboxes with links in the 2D layer. The 3D content has scaled without error. Our concern is how to dynamically scale the 2D textboxes with links. We are using the textboxes as selectable hotspots and step titles.
Thanks,
Bill

Yes, I have been aware of the textbox scaling, and also the "show output size" red boundary being visible in VE Author if the step is updated with the show output size option checked. I'm not sure if the red outline boundary is visible in VE Viewer, have not tested it, but can.
Prior to this current project, we have published to a predetermined aspect ratio and resolution (1920 x 1080 HD) and publishing without the 'show output size' option checked for each step. This has worked correctly, but does not scale correctly when an alternate monitor resolution or aspect ratio is chosen. This also occurs with our older, but still in use, VE Viewer SDK 7.0. Was curious if there is a fix for this in the current SDK or soon to be released VE Viewer 9.
Another factor is the default of Windows 8 and above setting the default text size to 150% vs. the 100% text size in Windows 7. This also causes an unexpected scaling issue with all 2D content, textboxes, SDK hotspots, titling, etc.
Thanks again,
Bill T.
Yes, please send an example of the text boxes scaled.
To confirm, we are publishing to .rh format, not .vds format. Animated UV's (textures) are a requirement of our delivery product.
Should the 'show output size" be active when updating steps for publishing? I am seeing a significant difference in magnification of the scene when this option is active on some created camera views.
Are there specific settings for created camera properties that should be set to avoid the reduction in magnification of the 3D scene content? This does not occur on all .rh files, only randomly.
Regards,
Bill
Hi William,
1. The output resolution set in VE Author affects printing only.
VE Viewer will dynamically scale Viewport depending on current screen resolution.
2. Aspect ratio set in VE Author will be preserved in VE Viewer.
It is import to set correct aspect ratio in VE Author and use "Show output size" option when authoring steps to be aware of "always visible" area of Viewport.
thank you,
