The main difference between the BPGE and BPEG tables in the context of budgeting in SAP lies in the level of detail of the information stored:

  • BPGE: Stores the overall budget, meaning the total planned amounts for controlling objects (such as WBS elements or orders). It acts as a summary or aggregator of the budget.
  • BPEG: Stores the detailed (line-item) released budget entries, meaning each individual posting that makes up the total amount recorded in BPGE. This allows you to track every single budget line entered for the project.

In summary: BPGE shows the consolidated total, while BPEG provides the details of each individual budget entry that makes up that total.
