Delete on a target system existing data records via a BC Set

Is it possible to delete on a target system existing data records via a BC Set or is a transport request of tables the only solution ?

We need for example to delete on a target system an existing data record related to the SPRO IMG activity “Check Identification Listing”.

We already have a BC Set in place that was used in the past to defines the identification listing.

Can we reuse that BC Set to also delete existing data records on the target system ?

Our initial thoughts was that this is not feasible since BC Set usually contains only the new or modified records.

Still in the BC Set maintenance transaction (SCPR20) when we edit a BC Set, the legend dialog (CTRL-F7) show that a record can be flag as “Delete Data Record at Activation”.

We are not able to find any documentation regarding that option, it’s exact purpose and usage.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback and recommendation.

I agree that this might not be a common scenario and that there is alternative such as direct customizing.

Still in certain very specific case (e.g. updating multiple clients system) then having the ability to delete data records at activation via a BC Set would be great.

So I would still be very curious to find additional information on the 2 options highlighted in red in the above image.

  • Delete data record at activation
  • Deletion record in BC Set is in database

So far I have found no reference to those options, are they obsolete or undocumented features ?

If someone knows how to use those features and can reference existing documentation this would be great.

Hello

if you read carefully the SAP documentation: I believe the two topics are "related" to "managing" BC Sets (not the content of the BC set)

Our approach to change "many SAP systems" in "one" run is slightly different. Therefore we do not use BC sets.

So i can not help

Hello

in context of: We need for example to delete on a target system an existing data record related to the SPRO IMG activity “Check Identification Listing”

in 99% of the cases such changes in the system are done direct via customizing and not using BC Sets

Please check as well:https://www.consolut.com/fileadmin/Medien/PDF/SAP_PrintDoku/en/BCCUSBCS/BCCUSBCS.PDF

Hello

there are number of threads out there discussing "BC Sets". Only some examples:

https://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/Basis/Business+Configuration+Sets+(BC+Sets)+and+their+use

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/2068007

https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/1794278

PLease check internet.

Generelly: in EHS ist is not a godd idea to deleted "customizing" entries (either via customizing transport or a BC set)

You should be on the "very safe side" before you delete customizing entries (I will not explain the many pitfalls if you have not checked well your system)
