Data Matrix barcode in SAP GLM

Hi Experts,

We are working on a label development and requirement is to include 2D Data matrix barcode. We are facing challenges as follows as I am a beginner for label development.

1. How too see if 2D Data matrix barcode is available for us to use as per the barcode library

2. What is the syntax we can write a code segment to fetch 2D Data matrix barcode for a field such as Batch number in a delivery

3. As per SPRO config, only 5 barcodes types are available to use. But still PDF417 is used for other labels even if it is not existing in config. Is it possible to use ECC200 the same way?

3. How can we display the barcodes in preview in CG42?

So the discussion on WWI in combination with "BarCode" printing is quite old; in last months there was limitted discussion in this FORUM regarding GLM and BarCode topics.

Coming back to your topics:

1. How to see if 2D Data matrix barcode is available for us to use as per the barcode library ==> any barcode library has some "background" and for any of them you should have a "documentation" in place: how to use the barcode library and what is "in scope" and "out of scope" (from technical and business perspective) => who is the provider of the BarCode libraray? This company you should ask for help (if really needed..)

2. What is the syntax we can write a code segment to fetch 2D Data matrix barcode for a field such as Batch number in a delivery => this is to "specific" to answer here

3. As per SPRO config, only 5 barcodes types are available to use. But still PDF417 is used for other labels even if it is not existing in config. Is it possible to use ECC200 the same way? => please check the many threads and discussions for BArCode and GLM (especially Data matrix)

3. How can we display the barcodes in preview in CG42? => you would like to "test" a layout. And to test a layout you need to provide data (e.g. like the batch number in one delivery)... so in principle: there is no difference to other test approaches.. clearly... parameter data is tricky.. and to test GLM labels is a "nightmare" (or can be); but it is possible

PLease check the many threads for 2D Data matrix handling... the topic is for a beginner in WWI layout to "complex" (in my opinion). you need an experienced WWI consultant to get help

I figured out that the latest techniIT barcode licence was not purchased by our client. So i had to go with the old genefix code. It worked.

cg42 is for the design purpose for the labels are most of the things you cannot see in preview for the labels ,

Barcode library you need to install in the WWI server level in order to preview in the output while you generate in the label, you can ask basis to install Bar code libraries in the WWI servers.

WWI & GLM are very Vast topics, Please check with senior consulting experts first after getting knowledge from the blogs.
