CPM/PPM/PS - Resource Planning Process

Hi Experts,

I have worked and implemented Resource planning process in both PS and PPM.

In PPM, the resource planning/management via cProjects is extensively used but not user friendly.

Whereas, the resource planning/management is bit user friendly but not extensively used in PS. There are so many gaps in resource planning in SAP PS

E.g. in PS, the various resources (with different roles) can be assigned to a single activity using activity elements only. The same process in PPM is implemented using roles.

I am not sure, can we plan and assign resource in CPM also?

What about resource planning/management in MRS?

Out of CPM/PPM-cProjects/MRS/PS, which module is perfect for a user friendly as well as extensive using of Resource planning/management?

The solution or the Module to be used will depend upon many factors

1. Is your company ready to invest money on Resource Planning solution.. As for PPM, CPM or MRS there is a separate user license fee involved.

2. What is it that your end-users want to achieve when it comes to resource planning?

3. How much visibility of employee engagement is required by the mid-level or higher level management?

MRS is a tailor-made solution for Resource Management, it covers most of the aspects of resource engagement. It is well integrated with PS, PPM, CRM, PM and CPM. You can check this out.
