Costing a product with two version

Dear expert,

Our company expect to manage material (finished good) with 2 methods:

Method 1

Produce the material: in this case we expect to have a cost different from Zero (we have setup costing variant PYC1 and valuation variant ….)

Method 2

Material is subcontracted: our company is producing the material for a sister company (subcontracting) in this case we expect to have a cost at zero value (cost is at offer level)

The solution designed is

  1. For material BD4011nWW we have unchecked “do not cost” in MM02 (view costing 1)
  2. Create 2 manufacturing versions for the material BD4011nWW (F001 and F002)

F001 is with cost zero

F002 is with cost <> 0

  1. Each version has its own BOM and routing, to manage the costing we have setup in CS02 (Status/lng test Tab) costing relevancy field, not relevant for costing for version F001 and 100% relevant for costing for version F002
  2. Each version has its own cost collector and cost estimate

We are using the same costing variant PYC1 for both cases

When we use CK11n (for material) to calculate the cost the system generates the cost correctly for F002 and it generates an error for F001 the error is “Cost component split costed with value of zero

Q1 could you please advise whether our approach is correct or not.

Q2 can we make a work around this error (we need to have the costing for version F001 at zero amount and <> 0 for F002) this is a business requirement.

thank you for your kind support.
