I am attempting to configure the RFC - HTTP Connections to ABAP System [SAP_EH_FW_WFF_REPORT_TARGET]. The RFC entry has been configured with the following path prefix /nwbc/<NWBC> as documented. Execution of the report from NWBC Analytics Reports tab is failing. My attempts to locate further details on end to end setup of the following configuration has come up empty.
Has anyone out there experienced the same issue and have further insight into what needs to be setup / validated for this application functionality to work?
Thanks....
Alan

Hello Alan,
At the report launchpad, from where the reports are launched, every application has a system alias maintained, that defines the system on which this application will be executed.
For the analytical reports, this system alias is "SAP_BI".
Check if you have created the RFC connection "SAP_BI" for BI-JAVA.
To create the missing RFC connection you can do the following:
Use transaction SM59 to create a new RFC Connection of type "HTTP Connections to External Server" with the following properties:
- Name of the RFC Destination: SAP_BI
- Target Host: Host of BI-JAVA system
- Service No.: Port of BI-Java system
- Maintain logon data (usually user ALEREMOTE)
If the connection test is successful, it should be possible to launch the reports out of the report launchpad.
Also, if you go to transaction SPRO and open the documentation under the IMG Activity "Specify RFC Destination for BW System" you will find the documentation about the system alias SAP_BI.
Best Regards,
Camila

Thanks for the follow-up Camila.
Our SAP landscape does not have a BI-Java stack installed. In our environment landscape reporting is done through Business Objects. Does the EHSM Reporting analytics component require exclusively RFC connection to a BI Java stack? Are you aware of other options to configure this component? SPRO document specifically discusses RFC connection requirment for Non-ABAP HTTP target.
Alan
We are implementing EHSM and find ourselves unable to get the embedded analytics content working -we are licensed and SAP note 1486885 is not helpful in outlining the actual prerequisites.
We not have a BW ("BI") Java stack in our landscape either. Is it possible to use another system (such as Bobj, Solution manager which have java stacks) as Alan described?
Despite the last reply being in September.... Alan, did you get a work around or find a solution -or did you install a BI java stack in your landscape or disable the reporting launchpad altogether?
Thanks,
Robert
