Configuration for Versions in PPM

Hi Experts,

I know, we can create simulation and project version of portfolio items in Miscellaneous tab of a portfolio item.

There is a field called version type.

I could not find the relevant configuration in PPM SPRO. Where can we configure version type?

Is there SPRO node for versioning in PPM?

Are these simulation version under Miscellaneous tab and simulation version in What-If Scenario for items same??

We also face a similar scenario.

Meanwhile in version 1809 we can set up the snapshots and create snapshots for a project, we have performed the same configuration in version 1909 and we encounter the following situation:

- When we try to create a snapshot of a project, the dropdown list of snapshots appears empty. therefore, we cannot select a snapshot in order to create it.

We have searched through SAP notes but we have not found any issue related to it.

Hi,

Go in the frontend to "Portfolio- and Project Administration". Under "Services" you can find "Project Version Administration" - where the versions can be created.
(The version must be defined as "Released".)

Hi Sandeep,

The version creation (of type simulation) is automated in the What-If scenario.

This can be done separately in the item under Miscellaneous as well.

By default, the versioning feature is present in the PFM, without any configuration. While creating item version, you can create a PPM Project version. For this there is a config existing. Under Project Management, there is a node for configuring the version numbers - SPRO -> Project Management-> Structure-> Define Permitted Version Numbers.

Thanks for your response.

The simulation version created automatically in What-If Scenario is visible when we use (or implemented) that functionality. So, this is not same as version creation under "Miscellaneous tab" of a Portfolio item.

When we create a simulation/snapshot version under Miscellaneous tab of a portfolio item, the system asks for a version type.

Also, I configured "SPRO -> Project Management-> Structure-> Define Permitted Version Numbers" but still I am unable to view dropdown list of version type. The version type field is mandatory by default and blank.
