changing a phrase's phrase group

Hi all,

I am trying to change a list of phrases Phrase group, and i am trying to do this by uploading the phrase DAT file, which reflects the new PHRGRP. The new PHRGRP exists in the phrase library.

However, after the upload, the phrase still belongs to its old phrase group.

Does the phrase loading program not update the PHRGRP?

Hi Scott,

I don't think that can be done at all. Once a phrase is assigned to a phrase group you cannot change it anymore. It's not necessary anyway, a phrase can be used anywhere, regardless which group it is assigned to.

Thanks Ralph. We were trying to give our users a way to see all of the phrases we have decided to delete. Changing their phrase group to something unique seemed like a good idea. They could then search on only that phrase group (like ZDEL), and then perform the deletion themselves.

any other ideas on how to accomplish this ? (Yes we know they may also have a cleanup activity as well,since there may still be some  specs that contain these phrases)

Hi Ralph - i think you are referring to the fact that you cannot change the phrase group via the user interface in CG12.  I agree that it cannot be done there.

I was using a DAT file import though, and I found below that it can be done that way. (i just had a mistake in my phrase library name which is why it did not work at first)
