Dear all
we can "archive" reports using SAP EHS standard tools. This is a option whích might be used for "historic" reports (if the historic report is processedit will get diffewrent status (Archived) accoring to my understanding))
I would like to know:
a.) is there any body there using this option?
b.) are there any pitfalls in using this option?
c.) Can the end user understand the difference and handle it?
Reason of the question.
Even using DMS or "archive" like implementations: "Reports" consumes memory. In the "historized" version: you reduce the amount of memorry needed
On the top there is some option in place (according to my understanding) (never tried) not to "archive" but to "zip" the reports (e.g. https://answers.sap.com/questions/51886/report-distribution-zipping.html as well as https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/2051969 and https://answers.sap.com/questions/51885/zipping-raw-reports.html)
As well: we are not using this approach. The approach is of interest for "Raw reports" and for "final reports" in context of eMail dispatch
I would be interested: is there really no one using one of these options?

Hi Christoph,
The biggest saving is in terms of space is most certainly to NOT store / save final reports permanently in the Document Management System (DMS) - no matter if within SAP or an external DMS!
However I have seen clients storing them - or they are deleted on SAP side - but not in the external DMS because it was set-up in a way that nothing could be deleted (more like an Archive).
There's a setting SAP that you can store them for n days - set this to an appropriate time frame. After these days the final report is deleted.
I have not implemented Archiving or ZIPing yet. ZIPing of RAW Reports should make no difference to the end user from my understanding.
A colleague of mine has good experience with the Archive option - let me know if you need details / support exploring this option.
Best
Mark
