Cannot Pass Value from Text Field to Display Template by Event in SSCE, MII

Dear expert,

I am using MII with version 15.4 SP0 Patch 0 to develop a report by SSCE.

I have already created a query template and display template in workbench and if I directly create irpt file, I can refresh the display template content by the input provided from user.

When I use SSCE to achieve this since it's easier to create fancy report, I use EVENT to pass the value. The event is set like below.

I also create an event to pass value to query template which is assigned to this display template to compare. This event can work.

The original report is like

When I click the search button, the result is like

I have tried to check the console of the web page but no error found except for some violation.

I suppose the configuration of the event should be right and the display template itself should be correct, too. However, not sure why it doesn't work in SSCE.

Could you please give your insight about this?

Why are you using a display template? Java Applets no longer are being supported in most browsers (due to security issues, I believe). So even if you get this working, it won't be supported.

I am new to MII report, could you please explain more about the abandon of Display template? And in your opinion, what else could we use to replace the display template?

What I know is if we don't use Display template, then the only choice for us is to use Query template here. However, for query template, there is no button in the page which can export the result data for users.
