Can we not display long text as identiifer for hazard inducer ( pure substance )

Dear Gurus,

I assigned a pure substance ( hazard inducer ) to the hazard inducer tab against different regulations in dangerous goods property tree of a real susbtance to which a material was already assigned. ( Note here that the identifier that I used for pure substance , id cat -NAM - id type - HIS, that I mentioned was a long text ). When I saved the data & ran transaction DGE5, I got the following error while running the DGE5 - Filling completed ; problems have occured ( see logs). When I checked the transaction DGP7 (Display Logs ) to find the error, it said - Problem class other with it's message text as " Description already exists in language 1". On double clicking it , I got the following information - Message no. C$382,

Diagnosis - You recorded a label that already exists in another language.

Procedure - Enter a unique label.

When I checked the dangerous goods master data for the material assigned to the real substance against the different regulations post DG filling, the hazard inducer tab there which ideally reflects the identifier of pure substance was not updated.

To me, it looks as if the system rejects any long text as an identifier for pure substance ( hazard inducer ) while running the transaction DGE5 & hence it gives the above errors & does not take in to consideration for this very reason in the dangerous goods master data for the material this long text identiifer, perhaps because it's entering long text for this purpose as identifier is not permitted by the system.

Am I right, if yes - does it mean that I can never use long text as identifier fot this very purpose or else I have to change some settings to be able to do so.

Dear Anshul

your explanation does not fit for me to the error log. a "label" is not an "identifier". Is this happening with a special material only? if so: use debug to get better idea why you get the error message; nether heard about something like you are describing.

PS: in DG filling any identifier having long text will be "migrated" to corresponding phrase having long text; never had a problem with that

Hello Anshul,

Long text is supported to populate Hazard inducer and displayed in DG master with own Phrase key which is taken from Pure sub Identifier HIS.

Try Following to trouble shoot -

1. Use Just normal HIS Less than 20 charter with Language key EN in Pure Sub and Re run the DGE5 - If DG Master is updated - Yes -

than try the same for Long test (Try keeping the language key).

If short text does not work than there may be missing configuration

Post your result with screen shot if this does not work.
