Additional fields in DGP3 to store additional printed texts

Hi

We have a requirement where we may need to store extra phrases in addition to using the fields on the 'Printed Texts' tab. We have a number of extra phrases and don't think we will have room to include them on the Printed Texts tabs.

We have considered using the text pattern fields on the Text Pattern tab for these additional phrases rather than using these fields for their proper use. Are there any disadvantages to doing this and should we use the customizable tab instead for these extra fields we require ? .

Hi Alistair,

First I would like to have some clarity of your requirement.

1. what is the need of storing extra phrases?

most of the data we maintained in DG master, some how we are using for Dangerous goods checks and especially for DG documents.

If thosee phrases (what you mean) useful other than DG documents, better you can maintain them in substance level by adding extra value assignments in property tree as a nodes.

2. Text pattern field -

this field will be used for delivery notes and DG documents. without using this field also we cn control the field by maintainin the environment parameter - DG_PAPER_DEFAULT_TEXTPATTERN

If you have some specific text pattern for that particular DG master, then it can be maintained and the same can be pulled to delivery note.

this time the default one maintained in environment parameter will be inactive.

function module DG50_GETSYMB_DEFAULT_TEXTPATT, will be used to fetch the value to documents.

If you don't have such requirement in documents right now as well as in future, then you can use the field to store the phrase as you like. It's not going to harm except delivery note/ DG documents.

In future, if business requires the above functionality......then, whatever you are proposing the temporary solution now, has to be altered.

Thank you for the reply. It's helped clarify a bit 🙂

The EHS users don't think that they can accommodate all the H&P statements and S&R phrases they might need on the printed text tab as they want to store some Health Texts as well, so in summary they feel they need more fields.

I have seen there is a customizable tab in the DGP3 config but I haven't found any related documentation anywhere. Could this be an option.
