12.1 Using Export/Import For Server Transport

Hello experts,

We are using 12.1 MII. Currently we are having some issues with NWDI that are preventing us from using the NWDI based transport process to move our applications between MII servers (Dev -> Staging -> Prod). We are working to resolve these issues but in the interum we are using the MII Project Export/Import capability to transport what we need. This seems to work fine. My question is, is there any reason why we can't use this process indefinitely? What is the big advantage of using the NWDI based deployment process?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Mike,

You can use the process of Export/Import for projects indefinitely if you would like to. Before NWDI integration with 12.1, administrators would use this manual process for project transport in 12.0.

NWDI brings in version control for objects in a project along with its transport mechanism. Version control without NWDI is alot more manual and tedious, especially if you only want to look back X amount of days worth of backups for only a few objects.

Regards,

Kevin
