In this how-to blog, we’ll guide you through the process of using the new safety data sheet generation functionality which will make your life easier. For technical information, check the What's New here

With this feature, for public cloud customers, you can generate product compliance documents and ship them to customers. Generate documents for product compliance data, based on Adobe form templates and form data providers with integration of generated documents in the safety data sheet process. There are also new public APIs and migration objects for toxicological and ecological data.

We are starting with the country/region of Germany, and we see that a German language safety data sheet is available.

We click on Edit mode, and then generate a new SDS, now we also see the updated timestamp on the SDS.

Now we can open it and see that many fields are prefilled, but some will need to specifically be addressed before final safety data sheet generation.

We can now look at the generation log to get informed about issues that occurred, for example, no marketability assessment is available or there is no released assessment for water hazard class.

Let’s use the water hazard class and show how to solve this issue, we change to the central work view which is structured like a safety data sheet.

We are looking at section 15 and want to maintain our information for the German water hazard class, we can see that the assessment is ready, but not released. After releasing, we go back to the work view.

We see the status of the water hazard class as released, and now we regenerate our safety data sheet with the update.

We see on the map, the Germany safety data sheet assessment is available to be sent, you fill out the information in the dialogue box and click Send.

Now the monitor shipment SDS app is opened, and we see the shipment status and it is completed.

Hi thanks for this. can you confirm if this functionality is available in S/4HANA On-Premise 2023? I have checked materials in help.sap.com and it is unclear to me if the ability to generate a safety data sheet from the Safety Data Sheet management apps is actually available on On-Premise 2023.

Many thanks

Hello

i am pretty sure: this functionality is currently only available via "cloud" version and not on premise version 2023.

Check may be marketplace for more details.

At least the data model in "on premise" 2023 to generate a SDS is not complete.

C.B.

PS: we above cited link refers to a "cloud" version. Here is the text in help.sap.com. I have highlighted the important part.

"With this process, you can generate a first selection of sections of an EU safety data sheet (without country/region-specific additions) in the SAP S/4HANA for product compliance solution using Adobe Document Services."

@Shush971 Thanks for the question, sorry for the delayed answer I was away from work. As @christoph_bergemann wrote, this is for public cloud only right now.

Hallo Michael ( @Michael_Mulder ),
may I use this way of interaction to get my question answered 🙂

With the help of Mathias (incident solved) I was able to generate my SDS...

Now I am at the situation that I do an English presentation showing the DE SDS...
Or think about Christoph, who is in an international company that might want to have the DE SDS not in German but in English...

Is there the possibility to access this configuration or to "add" languages to an country (Belgium has even three languages assigned 😊)?

I checked community, IMG, the 2408 PRC session (here Ingo just stated: "behind there is obviously configuration behind, that the German SDS needs to be in German"), but do not find, where to configure this?

Thanks in advance for your answer
Harry

Hi @harrystrauss  I believe you can use the Apply Regulations - Safety Data Sheets to add a language for an SDS

Hi @Michael_Mulder

when reading the app description and seeing your image, it looks obviously that this is the right tool...

Thanks!

Unfortunately, the app does not work on my 2502 system...
I will open an incident...

PS: I might raise a further question regarding the appearance of the maintained data in "manage contact data app" in the SDS_STARTER template 🙂
