Negative press echo on European conflict mineral regulation proposal

The press echo on the European proposal for an own conflict mineral regulation was mostly negative. The proposals was first of all criticised for focusing on importers of raw materials and failing to target manufacturers and companies that import finished products. In addition to the reduced scope, the approach was critized for the fact, that it only plans a voluntary self-certification scheme. If everything proceeds as planned, the new conflict minerals law shall begin operating in 2015.
