Additionally, we were thrilled to feature Lars from LeverX, who shared exciting updates and initiatives from the SAP PLM community. The event featured topics that like SAP PLM’s strategic initiatives, practical applications for discrete and process industries, and innovative AI-driven advancements available in SAP PLM, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the evolving SAP PLM landscape.

SAP PLM Strategy and Road Map with Ismail and Carsten

In their conversation, Ismail and Carsten discuss the strategic direction and technological advancements of SAP PLM software, particularly emphasizing their new Cloud-native solution built on the business technology platform. Ismail starts by highlighting the challenges faced by various industries in product development, including increasing complexity, regulatory requirements, and the need for deeper integration across engineering and manufacturing processes. He underscores the importance of brand new SAP PLM SaaS in addressing these challenges through its comprehensive capabilities and integration with SAP S/4HANA Cloud ERP. Carsten elaborates on the integration framework, detailing how SAP PLM integrates with various tools and systems like CAD, PDM, and SAP S/4HANA to streamline processes from design through manufacturing. They emphasize the goal of enabling seamless data flow and process synchronization to enhance product development efficiency and innovation delivery.

SAP PLM for Process Industries with Felix and Ing-Marie

In this presentation, Felix provided an in-depth look at how their PLM system handles specification management processes. He emphasized the critical role of detailed property management and versioning in ensuring compliance and maintaining quality throughout the product lifecycle. Demonstrations highlighted the system's capabilities in accessing and managing specifications through a user-friendly interface, with robust filtering and comparison tools for enhanced decision-making. The session showcased how specifications are structured and managed, with a focus on integrating with other systems like SAP S/4HANA for comprehensive traceability and operational efficiency. Future plans include expanding features, deeper integrations, and API enhancements, underscoring their commitment to advancing usability and functionality for all users involved in product development and compliance.

In contrast, Ing-Marie focused on sharing a brand-new SAP PLM capability called formulation. She demonstrated the system's capability in recipe management, highlighting structured inputs, processing instructions, and the flexibility to create and manage recipes efficiently. The session emphasized how formulation data integrates with specification management, ensuring that ingredient inputs align with specified product requirements and compliance standards. Integration with other PLM capabilities and systems like SAP S/4HANA further enhances efficiency and collaboration across teams. Future developments include expanding feature sets and enhancing integrations to support seamless product development and formulation processes, reflecting their ongoing commitment to improving usability and functionality for users across the organization.

SAP PLM for Discrete Industries with Gerhard Himmelsbach

Gerhard Himmelsbach introduced another brand-new capability in SAP PLM called, Product Data Integration, emphasizing its versatility across CAD systems—from on-premises deployments to private and public cloud environments. This integration seamlessly connects CAD tools such as SolidWorks, eCAD solutions, and PCB design tools with SAP PLM, ensuring comprehensive data transfer including 3D geometries and material specifications. Gerhard highlighted the integration’s role in enhancing production planning, compliance checks, and downstream processes like MRP runs. He showcased new UI enhancements within CAD applications, underscoring improved user interaction and data visibility across the product lifecycle. This session exemplified our commitment to integrating engineering and enterprise processes effectively, empowering product-centric companies to innovate sustainably.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) in SAP PLM with Christoph

He elaborated on strategic initiatives aimed at leveraging AI to streamline product lifecycle management processes, emphasizing the importance of robust partnerships and cutting-edge technologies. Christoph showcased practical applications such as AI-driven innovation management and advanced recipe formulation tools like SAP Joule in SAP PLM, illustrating their transformative impact on optimizing product development cycles and enhancing marketing strategies.

Featuring e-bite called SAP PLM in the Cloud with Eudes

Eudes shared a brief update during the session, announcing the release of a new e-bite publication focused on SAP PLM in the cloud. He is one of the authors of this read and he expressed pleasure in collaborating with colleagues on this project, highlighting that the book offers comprehensive insights into SAP PLM's capabilities across approximately 100 pages.
